The area of the Bay is located to the west of the James Bay Highway. In this area of the James Bay region, the boreal forest slowly gives way to the taiga vegetation. These large and wild spaces are perfect for a snowmobile excursion. To the north, the municipality of Radisson is the most important of this area.
In this sector, you will find one of the only non-Native communities in Quebec that lives north of the 53rd parallel. In addition, Radisson is the northernmost French-speaking community in the world. This small 350-inhabitant town is also the final point of the James Bay Highway. This highway stretches from south to north on 620 kilometres. Prepare yourself – and your car – for this long excursion!
