The area of the Large Reservoirs is rich with minerals and natural resources. This large piece of land is dotted with numerous forests, where many pulp and paper industries decided to install their machinery. These forests are also a paradise for hikers since several paths are accessible in the region. This area is also home to some Natives villages in which you will find many artisans and art works made by these people whose history is so rich.
The soil of this area is also rich in minerals. A few mines have been opened here and there on the territory. During your visit of this sector, you will surely notice the many rivers on which important dams and hydroelectric power stations have been built, including La Grande and Laforge. The power of some of these reservoirs provides enough electricity for most of the Quebec households. It is also in this area that you will find Lake Mistassini, the largest natural lake in Quebec.
