In the municipality of Mistissini, the White Hill and Marble Den are very intriguing. This hill is of a white colour because of a mineral: the quartzite. This mineral is found everywhere in the hill and was once used by the Natives to make weapons and tools.
Encircled by potholes of different sizes, this hill hides a natural cave called Marble den. This place was formerly used by the shamans to celebrate their traditional rituals. Nowadays, this site is classified archaeological site and can be visited only in summer and after you receive the authorization from the Mistissini Band Council.
