At least four covered bridges can be found in the South area of the James Bay region, and they all have been built between 1943 and 1953. The Taschereau and Pionniers bridges were the first ones to be built in 1943, then the Maurice-Duplessis bridge in 1948 and the Souvenirs bridge in 1954.
Built in the traditional Town style, this type of bridges can only be seen in Quebec. These well-preserved bridges and their interpretation panels will give you all kinds of information about their construction. You can visit them by car, by bike or by foot. Next to the panels, you can read some of the love words that inhabitants have carved here throughout the years.
