
When you enter Villebois, you will find the replica of the boat “La Rosanna”, which was used by the first pioneers to cross the Turgeon River. In the heart of the village, you can visit the grotto of the Virgin, the St-Camille Church as well as a small chapel unique in Quebec. Form June to September, you can also visit the Ancient object Museum. At the northern exit of the village, you will find the “James Bay Gateway”, which was built in honour of the first winter road of the region.
In Valcanton, a boat-launching ramp allows canoeists to discover the surrounding area and go to the watershed between the Turgeon and Boivin rivers. Hiking enthusiasts can explore the area between the Imbeau and Oléron lakes where several geographical particularities can be seen, such as erratic blocs left behind by glaciers some millions years ago.
In the heart of the village, the Bouton d’Or park inspires relaxation for everyone’s delight. You will also find several covered bridges in the area, like the Maurice-Duplessis, des Pionniers and des Souvenirs bridges, which all cross the Turgeon River. You can also admire the Val-Paradis, Villebois and Beaucanton bridges. At Lake Pajegasque, a campground with all the main services will surely please all nature enthusiasts. They will also be pleased by the bird watching centre located in the village.
